Red Nucleus is looking for a new Data Protection Engineer to join our team. This position can be based out of any of our US-offices or full-time remote.

The Role

As a Data Protection Engineer, you will help implement Data Protection and Data Governance solutions for the full scope of Data Life Cycle Management with specific focus on major cloud and SaaS platforms (O365, Azure, AWS, Egnyte). You will have a lead role in the design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of Data Protection and Data Governance solutions and process. You will help to develop the IT security and governance roadmap, driving utilization of current systems and defining new systems and services needed to build a work class IT security framework.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as champion for data protection and IT security, ensuring standards and best practices are followed
  • Build and strengthen technical controls for data discovery, classification and tagging sensitive information
  • Define, configure and test complex configurations to enable Data Classification and Tagging policy implementations through various cloud and SaaS solutions
  • Lead external penetration testing and internal vulnerability assessment engagements
  • Administration, configuration, and design of Red Nucleus’ cloud file management platform, Egnyte
  • Point of contact for Red Nucleus’ managed security services provider (Artic Wolf Networks) for responding to alerts, incident remediation, root cause analysis
  • Work closely with other areas of IT and Product Development to deliver comprehensive security capabilities.
  • Lead client data protection audit response
  • Support troubleshooting activities and provide SME to IT support teams in detecting and responding to security incidents
  • Manage compliance with global data protection standards such as GDPR, HIPA
  • Coordinate and prepare technical documentation for new/upgraded solutions and services
  • Identify key metric indicators for trend analysis
  • Document technical solutions and develop how tos to assist IT Services with troubleshooting and technical understanding
  • Participates and sometimes leads projects within IT and for the greater organization
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Must be generally available to assist with critical issues and respond to support questions, something after business hours.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, or equivalent years of training and experience required
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM helpful


Experience

  • Information Security Technologies – Knowledge of technologies and technology-based solutions/service and how they relate to data protection and audit compliance
  • Risk Remediation - Experience interpreting real time vulnerability data and leading remediation planning and execution
  • Cloud architecture and services – Strong understanding of SaaS, IaaS and technology utilized by major cloud service providers
  • IT Architecture – Knowledge of and ability to design and improve organizational IT structures and roadmaps in order to better support business operations and efficiently achieve organizational objectives
  • Systems Administrations – Some experience building and troubleshooting IT systems running on Windows OS
  • IT Industry and technology currency – Understanding of emerging technology around Cyber Security, Data Protection, cloud, service management
  • IT Standards, Procedures & Policies – Knowledge of and the ability to author documents and procedures relating to data protection, disaster recovery, cyber security.
  • IT Systems Management – Knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of technical tools and techniques to guarantee data protection and recovery
    • Experience with Egnyte cloud file platform helpful
    • Experience working with manages security services, i.e., Arctic Wolf Networks
  • Experience working in the life sciences industry or heavily regulated environments desirable- knowledge of computer system validation (CSV) helpful


Technical Skills

  • Experience with some of the following technology:
  • Server operating system and application virtualization
  • MS Windows
  • Directory Services (e.g. AD, LDAP)
  • Enterprise and end point backup solutions
  • NG Anti-virus software
  • Managed security services
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security best practices, tools, and processes
  • Experience working with cloud-based file management systems
  • Egnyte experience is an advantage
  • Change management systems

  • Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day.
  • Typical office environment
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing.

  • The ability to travel as needed
