Role Description
The Medical Animator is responsible for developing high quality animations, presenting accurate scientific and medical information in a clear and engaging manner. The animator will conduct general scientific research, develop storyboards, composite scenes and develop animations through their entire life-cycle in a fast-paced, high volume environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the creation of high quality medical animations; working on all aspects of 3D animation (modeling, animation, lighting, shading, rendering, basic dynamics)
  • Conduct general scientific research for animation and interactive projects.
  • Assist with the creation of storyboards, including literature and visual research, creative solutions, drawing frames and compiling storyboard documents
  • Composite 3D scenes in AfterEffects
  • Perform basic video and audio editing in Premiere
  • May have occasional contact with clients to discuss scientific content

Skills & Qualifications

  • Science degree required, graduate of a Biomedical Communications discipline preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment (3+ years working experience preferred)
  • Good competency in all aspects of 3D production (Autodesk Maya or 3DS Max), including modeling, shading, lighting, animating, basic dynamics and rendering (3+ years experience preferred)
  • Experience with script-writing and storyboard development
  • Good competency in compositing with After Effects
  • Good competency in Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder etc)
  • Competency in other software packages, including Mudbox, Unity, Frost etc, preferred
  • Basic knowledge of video editing and compression
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Passion for science and animation
